40% of College Admission Officers Browse Social Media Profiles
High school students: Before you apply for college, make sure to do a thorough Google search of yourself and ensure that your online reputation is a positive one because it's likely that college admission officers will be browsing your social media profiles.
The obvious first step would be to delete or remove any inappropriate or offensive posts, pictures, and comments. However, if you know that a college admission officer will be Googling you, you can also give them something to find that would make you stand out as a candidate in a positive way. Build your LinkedIn profile. Showcase a talent. Post recommendations from teachers or supervisors. Highlight extracurricular activities. Use the internet so that all of this good stuff comes up in the search results first!
